Another Day Another Adventure

Gelfling would like to say a mahoosive THANK YOU to every one who has been following our time together ….. and wouldn’t you know it today we had another adventure / challenge, this is the prize we gifted to ourselves for our successful Bake Off

2 villages away is this beauty

Heckington Windmill, the only working 8 sail mill still standing in England
Heckington Windmill, the only working 8 sail mill still standing in England  (which is undergoing improvement and expansion to include a bakehouse) a micro brewery is already incorporated … What a shame Beloved wasn’t with us

You might wonder why I noted this as a challenge… the reason is Gelfling was VERY nervous of the steps

There are 5 sets of super steep steps, and his excitement of wanting go up overrode his nerves ...what a brave chap

At the top we were treated to a magnificent view

An artistic shot of the Lincolnshire countryside taken through the sails .. Even I'm impressed how this photo turned out

Gelfling has now gone off with his Uncle and Aunt to visit the seaside and family, they will be sending me some photos so I can keep you updated on his time with us while his Daddy is in Europe   – whom by the way is also reading my posts so he can keep up-to-date on his sons activities

Thank you once again for allowing me to run a photo diary of  Gelfling and Grandmas Amazing Adventures, Gelfling is back with Beloved and I on Sunday for one last day together before he goes home … so not too many more posts for you to trawl through 🙂

    1. Its just over 2.5 miles from the cottage, and can see the windmill on our daily walks up the fen, its such a joy to have something so historic on our door step 🙂

      1. I saw one during our holiday in France four years ago but it wasn’t operative… This one is not only marvelous, it works too!! What could you wish more? There’s even a bakery and a brewery…. Oh,paradise….

      2. It’s all run by volunteers, and you can buy the flour they mill along with locally produced preserves ect, so a real artisan community 🙂

      3. A paradise, as I told…. Since I love to make cakes, pizza and bread (the last one has to be improved) I could find anything I want there…. And let’s talk about the poetic aspect of it…. wow, simply, wow!!

  1. What a lovely windmill and I think Gelfling was extremely brave going up all those steep stairs, bet he was really excited by the time he got to the top, and what a great view from the window 🙂 A very artistic photo indeed :-)!

    1. Just goes to show excitement beats fear any day of the week,
Gelfling thought it was the windmill Windy Miller lives in 🙂 which of course it is !!!!

      1. It really does!! With grandma’s loving encouragement too of course 😉
Oooo! Windy Miller, what happy memories! I take it he wasn’t there during your visit – shame! No doubt he was sourcing new flour sacks ;-)!!!

    1. The lovely gentleman let us have a quick look round the microbrewery …Moo was up in arms at the ‘funny smell’ I’ll remind him of that quote when he’s older !!!
The stair were quite a challenge for him so he did amazingly well to push himself 🙂
