A Little Well Done To Moo & I

It seems FOREVER since I’ve been in Blogland, I do hope you are all fighting fit and at one with the world. While I’ve been missing I have been ever sooo busy, The Cottage On The Green renovations have been moving apace ~we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel and have carpets upstairs !! it’s only taken 10 yrs …yes you have read that right 10 YEARS to get this far LOL. Moo is changing bedrooms and I thought what better time to teach him a little DIY

Moo does DIY
Moo doing a fantastic job rebuilding his bed, his next job is to hoover up all the bits of carpet shredding’s LOL

Obviously I checked the bolts had been tightened but he did the rest himself 🙂

What else have I been up to ? studying of course

award ceremony
My good-self being awarded a ‘People Moving & Risk Assessment Key Trainer certificate’ by Councillor Bradwell ~Executive Councillor for Adult Care, Health and Children’s Services

Having passed my Train the Trainer in Moving & Handling ( Train the Trainer First Aid next) I have been offered the position of ‘Training Officer’ not just for the home I work at but for THE WHOLE COMPANY!!! OMGoodness I’m more than a little proud at my career growth ….and a touch surprised if the truth be told 🙂

If that wasn’t enough I’m surrounded by no less than 4 mum’s to be so have been sneaking in a little sock knitting for tiny people paws

little socks
Each pregnant lady will receive a couple of pairs of super cute socks ~ either gender specific or neutral depending on their preferences

I do hope not to leave it too long before I post again, thank you for calling by the cottage to keep me company x

You Sit Down, I’ve Got This

Mrs P has asked if I’ll write this post for her …  because you know how some days pile on top of you ~ and I don’t mean in a cuddly wrapped in a blanket type of way …. I mean

funny-picture-of-a-tired-cat
This kind of day … not that I’m allowed coffee you understand … mainly because Mrs P won’t share

Anyhoo Mrs P had dragged her sorry backside home from ‘The Workplace’  “How’s your day been?” I asked ( yes ~ I do talk to humans ) she mumbled something about sleep – or lack thereof, needing sugar to function, and asking where her PJ’s were at 2 in the afternoon, so being the kind cat that I am, I sat her down and fed her chocolate

Until she felt like this on the inside

Then I gave her the GREAT news Mrs Craft has only gone and nominated her for the

blogger-rec-award
Thank you Mrs Craft, you have just made Mrs P a very happy bunny

She then started doing her ‘Happy Dance’ …not a pretty sight

I’ve thanked & linked back to Mrs Craft, I have to tell you why Mrs P started a blog ~ I think it’s because she likes to knit n’ stuff, (between you & me she rambles on about all sorts of rubbish interesting ‘things’ .. I don’t get it but hey ho )

I know she has found a couple of new bloggers  she has taken a shine to, here they are, Jem she has been following like for ever !

rabbitpatchdairy

Jem Arrowsmith knits

Curly Girl Crochet

Green cooking blog

I Feel An Oscar Acceptance Speech Coming On

Many thanks to Keri for nominating my humble blog for this award, if you are looking for neat ideas to upcycle or give your home a makeover go check her  blog out …after reading my post first of course !!

blogger-recognition-award
As I sit here in my tiara, long white gloves, and full evening gown, I raise my rather healthy proportioned glass to you all 🙂 This is the second nomination in this category and I’ll do a recap of my last acceptance speech, mainly because the juniper cordial I’m gulping down (in a most unladylike way) is beginning to kick in !!!

Sooo I have to mention how / why I started blogging

I have 2 blogs here on WP actually that’s a little fib I have this one &  K9 has his own .. best not steal his thunder !!  I called it Craft, because I wanted to chart my attempts into new crafts and Odyssey  to chart my wanderings through life. There are a few of reasons why I came to be a member of this community, here are some to keep you going

A) Because of the nature of my work – Let me explain, in Dementia Care the recipients of my care frequently don’t live in our world, I get to live in theirs, which means I get to virtually travel back in time to re- live their adventures, joys, misfortunes, and loves, I have their photos and stories to connect with them but very few written notes

B) I love anecdotes, tales, stories and social history

C) Lest I or my loved ones forget who I am, what made me tick / laugh/ the essence of me

I’m also obliged to pass on my profound wisdom and advice to new bloggers  *laugh cough *

Write for yourself, this is your narrative, it’s who you are, add tags, add photographs, and last but not least HAVE FUN

Now I have to nominate the next Blogger Recognition Award recipients, these are in no particular order and every blog I follow deserves a nomination !!

Florence and Freddie I have tried stamping …unfortunately my attempts were nothing like you will see on this blog – mine resembled a 2 yr olds during paint class at nursery

Sarah and Choppy Think a dog with a sense of flair and a touch of humour thrown in and you won’t be far off the mark

Jane  at Pillow Parlance A wonderfully talented lady …moi jealous – ermm only a little

I’ve only nominated 3 because

Lets face facts if I look this good the whole village needs to see...I'm off for a stroll around the green

The ‘Blogs We Love Award’

This idea came about by a wonderful comment from Repurposing Junkie please let me introduce ‘The Blogs We Love Award’

computer-love

Thank and link back to the blogger who nominated you

Post the award badge

Nominate between one and three blogs that you really enjoy, tell us why they are special to you …Simple 🙂

Let the respective bloggers know they have been nominated

The blogging community is awesome, it’s supportive, and connects us to such a wide diversity of ideas, so come on ladies and gents lets celebrate and share the blogs we love

Every blog I read is close to my heart and deserves recognition so it’s been a bit of a mare singling just 3 out, I’m biting the bullet and nominating

Repurposing Junkie .. for many reasons, Keri is the inspiration behind this award, one simple comment turned my distressing day around, her work is totally inspiring she transforms the mundane into breathtaking works of art, she takes unloved objects and gives them a new lease of life, this is not just upcycling but giving junk a soul

The Snail of happiness, the tag to this post is small steps to a kinder world, now if that doesn’t set your world of imagination on fire I don’t know what does,  Ms Snail is single-handedly educating me a whole host of subjects, she knits, crochets, harvests her own grown crops, and is working hard on sustainability – the woman is a marvel, yet she never preaches she simply guides me forwards

Caren’s craft and canvas I love Caren’s creativity, how on earth she creates such masterpieces is beyond me !!  although she has a completely different skill set to my own    she lights my imagination and helps keep me sane in the strange little world I live in, her sense of humour has me in stitches, and she has a heart of gold. Caren thank you for being you !!!!

To everyone who takes the time to blog, or post comments,  THANK YOU each and everyone of you has a blog that we love ❤

ME, ME, ME,

Good things happen !! After a distressing day at ‘The Workplace’ I logged onto my computermabob to discover this LOVELY comment on Keri’s inspiring blog … Craft Odyssey is a beautifully written blog featuring Roma’s knitted and crochet projects, as well as a variety of other topics.  I love her blog because she is so incredibly clever and honestly one of the best writer’s I’ve ever read.

Yes I know it's crass to to be all ME ME ME, but hey I've had a pretty stunning compliment
Yes I know it’s crass to be all ME ME ME, but hey I’ve had a pretty stunning compliment

I felt the need to inform you of this breaking news because

A) keri is obviously a woman with discerning taste, combined with the super power to transform unloved objects into stunning must have pieces of art.

B) Keri has been awarded the Blogger Recognition Award ..prove indeed she knows what she is talking about

C)  To say Keri has made my day is a slight understatement,  this one comment made everything OK in my little world today to which I must say THANK-YOU

D) No money has exchanged hands, No children or animals were hurt during this post …and I honestly don’t think Keri is under the influence of any illegal substances or alcohol ..although she may have ingested vast amounts of E numbers which gave rise to her comment

Thank you Keri for your unbiased compliment, and this tongue in cheek is a pre cursor for a more serious post for your nomination for the Blogger Recognition Award

An Award !! Yes Me !!

Thank You Jess

I’d like to say a VERY BIG thank you to Jess at oneblindmouse for nominating me for the Love Hate tag

love_and_hate_image
It seems Jess & I have a few of the same loves/hates so rather than go with the obvious I’ll try to come up with a few more obscure ones

Here goes with my 10 loves

1) When Beloved & I get a fit of the giggles, when we laugh so much our sides ache, and tears run down our faces and we can’t even speak clearly                                                      2) The smell of hawthorn blossom,                                                                                          3) Books, old, new, mystery’s,fiction, you name it I just love books                                        4) Crafts, I’d rather make something, anything, even badly, than not create at all                  5) My Daughter-in-Laws cooking, she is a real foodie and I swear she can make a meal out of anything                                                                                                                           6) Nature, Mother Nature is simply awesome                                                                         7) When a get a comment on my blog, to this day I’m seriously amazed anyone reads my inane ramblings, let alone writes back                                                                                     8) Travel, even if it’s to the nearest town/city, I just love wandering up the back streets and finding little surprises along the way                                                                                         9) Genealogy, how my ancestors have shaped the world in which I live never ceases to impress me                                                                                                                               10) Early morning walks…which can be as early as 4.30 am depending on my shift pattern, to be out and about (with K9 I hasten to add) before the world has woke up is stunning

And now for my hates …which I find to be quite a strong word, I’d rather say loath, so here are my loathes                                                                                                                           1) The last goodbye when anyone I love, have cared for, or have nursed looses their battle for life, it never gets any easier, I suppose when it stops getting to me will be the day I know I’m in the wrong job                                                                                                       2) injustice – enough said                                                                                                         3) Impolite drivers, when I’m with K9 up a single track lane and a driver doesn’t slow down so we can get into the hedge bottom – I won’t name names …but Farmer Field you know who you are STOP IT !!!                                                                                                           4) K9’s obsession with Neurotic Cats bed, the washing, wool, or anything else he shouldn’t touch                                                                                                                         5) Neurotic Cats meow, she can wake the whole neighbourhood when she wants, it’s not a sound I can ignore, as soon as I hear her I have to stop everything and be her servant     6) Emergency service sirens, as I live in ‘The Tangled Backwoods’ I have only heard sirens 3 times in the last 8 yrs, but you just know someone’s life is radically being altered   7) Flies, why when they have the whole world to live in they decide to take up residence in the cottage !!!! leave me be please                                                                                           8) Instructions that come with new technology, can it not be written in simple, everyday terms ??? I don’t have the inclination to read 3 sheets of paper just to know how to turn my latest iron on                                                                                                                             9) My hair, I’ve seen better hair on coconuts.. how on earth can I control my life when I can’t control my hair                                                                                                                 10) 3 in the morning, if I ever get a good idea or I’m worried about anything, why the heck does it have to wake me at that ungodly hour

There you have it some of the little things that make me tick, through checking in with other bloggers I’ve got to know some of you pretty well, so I’d lake to nominate some one I’ve not been following for long Kate @Katesclipping, please go check out her brilliant blog
