It seems FOREVER since I’ve been in Blogland, I do hope you are all fighting fit and at one with the world. While I’ve been missing I have been ever sooo busy, The Cottage On The Green renovations have been moving apace ~we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel and have carpets upstairs !! it’s only taken 10 yrs …yes you have read that right 10 YEARS to get this far LOL. Moo is changing bedrooms and I thought what better time to teach him a little DIY
Obviously I checked the bolts had been tightened but he did the rest himself 🙂
What else have I been up to ? studying of course
Having passed my Train the Trainer in Moving & Handling ( Train the Trainer First Aid next) I have been offered the position of ‘Training Officer’ not just for the home I work at but for THE WHOLE COMPANY!!! OMGoodness I’m more than a little proud at my career growth ….and a touch surprised if the truth be told 🙂
If that wasn’t enough I’m surrounded by no less than 4 mum’s to be so have been sneaking in a little sock knitting for tiny people paws
I do hope not to leave it too long before I post again, thank you for calling by the cottage to keep me company x
Beloved & I only have a couple more days of annual leave left before real life resumes, Beloved has been hard at work on the ‘Master Bedroom’ renovations which are taking FOREVER as we either have the time and no money. …money and no time or … time , money and no inclination !!
The painting has been done and the skirting boards fitted
We discussed how we I would like the décor, I’m up for just the chimney breast wall to be papered the rest can be painted, I knew all along which paper I wanted, I just needed Beloved to share my vision ..so began ‘Operation Wear Beloved Down’ my cunning plan involved dragging Beloved to as many shops as possible, buying him lunch to muddy his memory a little then go in for the kill.
Beloved & I have just had a weeks holiday – and I use that term Very loosely, Beloved has been pottering on with the renovations, and as the weather was nice we actually got round to hanging our new gates…
While not being at Beloveds beckoning I did manage to sneak a little knitting in as I have an order for 2 rabbits wearing little Aran Jackets
Also the commissioned buttons I ordered for my ‘Button Bunny’s’ have arrived
These wooden buttons are just too cute, hand crafted and a delightful addition to the ones gifted from Caren
Beloved yelled downstairs, “I’m just taking the wall down Dear” we had discussed said wall, as our airing cupboard is rather on the large side …and to be frank I don’t need a huge airing cupboard, so we came to the conclusion we would pinch a foot or two to extend the walk in wardrobe,
So yet again the cottage is covered in what seems a foot of dust…deep sigh
Beloved K9 & I took half an hour out to fetch Gelfling Grandson from school
I suppose I ought to flick round with the feather duster because our annual leave is over tomorrow and our work lives take over again for a while
Just when I thought I wasn’t a hoarder…..I think I have to admit I actually just might be a teeny-weeny little bit !!!
Let me start at the beginning, Beloved & I are on a weeks annual leave, and although we were planning on hobnobbing around the country we HAVEN’T had one single day of sunshine, thus uninspired we turned our attention to ‘The Master Bedroom’ renovation
While Beloved flogged away I was left with the enviable task of emptying the walk in wardrobe, I know spoiled or what !!! when I came upon a pair of shoes I’d forgotten I even had !!!
I also came across MORE wool I had stashed away ….I now have more yarn than is legally viable when you don’t own a wool shop!!!
Oh and books…I have an extraordinary amount of books oops LOL
I really don’t know how Beloved manages to pick up on my emotions….possibly because I relay them in such precise detail that they come across as subtle as a sledgehammer, I ‘may’ just possibly have mentioned to Beloved how guilty I felt about removing the Jackdaws nest from the Master Bedroom chimney
I have visions of Mr Jackdaw bringing his new bride to the cottage only to find they have been evicted…a row ensuing …Mrs Jackdaw leaving on her wedding night…Mr Jackdaws dreams being shattered ….
Beloved has brought me back from the brink of despair by informing me that if need be, he will perch on the roof come spring and direct the newly weds to their new apartment, offer to pay for the broods christening and be on hand to babysit when required, which is fair enough I’m happy with this arrangement.
Beloved has spent many an hour searching, trawling the internet, scouring salvage yards all so he could buy me THE most perfect fireplace for the Master Bedroom
Although the ‘Designer Bathroom’ is still awaiting curtains…the great fabric shop will commence soon I assure you, Beloved & I decided why wait, let’s make a start on the master bedroom renovation, the burning question was “Will we find what we are looking for ?” I stripped a little wallpaper off, Beloved tapped where a modicum of re-plastering had been done, then it was time for the hammer & chisel
There is just the small problem of the last tenants legacy, you see every spring we sub let part of our home…well the chimney to be exact, to Mr & Mrs Jackdaw who over the years have filled their new home with little knick knacks
So now Mr & Mrs Jackdaw and their brood have moved into their winter residence we can clear the chimney and begin the ‘Great Re-claimed Fireplace Hunt’ the cast iron fire-place in my crafting den only took 6 months to find, which gives us plenty of time to renovate and create the room of my dreams …there is just a wall to move, insulation, dry lining, plastering oh and a million & one other things to first 🙂
