It seems FOREVER since I’ve been in Blogland, I do hope you are all fighting fit and at one with the world. While I’ve been missing I have been ever sooo busy, The Cottage On The Green renovations have been moving apace ~we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel and have carpets upstairs !! it’s only taken 10 yrs …yes you have read that right 10 YEARS to get this far LOL. Moo is changing bedrooms and I thought what better time to teach him a little DIY
Obviously I checked the bolts had been tightened but he did the rest himself 🙂
What else have I been up to ? studying of course
Having passed my Train the Trainer in Moving & Handling ( Train the Trainer First Aid next) I have been offered the position of ‘Training Officer’ not just for the home I work at but for THE WHOLE COMPANY!!! OMGoodness I’m more than a little proud at my career growth ….and a touch surprised if the truth be told 🙂
If that wasn’t enough I’m surrounded by no less than 4 mum’s to be so have been sneaking in a little sock knitting for tiny people paws
I do hope not to leave it too long before I post again, thank you for calling by the cottage to keep me company x
Next week when Gelfling Grandson AKA Moo returns to school after Easter his class is embarking on a field trip ~ all them dressed as WW2 evacuees … when Beloved discovered this he asked if I would knit Moo an authentic styled 1940’s sleeveless sweater, Beloved has NEVER asked me to craft anything ~ such is the importance of this commission !!! I found This Pattern on a vintage knitting site and set to
Moo has been rather intrigued watching me wrestle the hedgehog as I begin to master double pointed needles on my quest to learn to knit socks and bless his heart asked if I would knit him some ‘Evacuee socks’ as you can imagine after knitting the grand sum total of two pairs of ‘Creatively Designed’ socks for myself (read that as they were full of errors!) the thought of disappointing the lad filled me with dread plus I had no pattern to follow for boys knee high socks !!! should that put me off ?? ….NO
Beloved made Moo a faux gas mask box out of corrugated card and now my ‘Little Man is set
Mind you it will take nerves of steel when I drop him off at school … remembering The Empty Child from a Dr Who program it will take all my composure not to just leave him at the school gate scream “I love you” and run for my life
Sorry I’ve been away for ages …forgive me ?? so just what on earth have I been up to ?? Well funny you should ask grab yourself a cuppa and I’ll explain ~ the time was right for me to take a starring role in Gelfling Grandson’s life ..tongue in cheek quote – obviously his daddy has the starring role I’m more of your best female artist
I now do virtually all the school runs, Moo stays with Beloved & I a couple of nights a week depending on 2nd Born’s work placements from his nursing uni course and I have altered my working life to school hours during term time only ~apart from every other weekend. Now for the really important news ….I have taught myself to use dpn and have embarked on my first pair of socks !!!!
I now feel like I’m leading some sort of incredible double life, learning something new AND having a youngster around ….. which really gives you a whole new lease of life
Gelfling Grandson AKA ‘Moo’ has a passion for being outside something I have encouraged from day 1 ~ when I ask him if he’d like to go for a walk you would think I’d offered him some sort of major treat 🙂 I try to maintain a goal of 10,000 steps per day so when Moo comes to visit I know it will be a goal that is easy peasy to reach. Today was super cold but the pair of us wrapped up warm & set off into the unknown
Of course we had to call by to see how the Lincolnshire Red cattle were fairing in their barn
Being the adventurous duo we are ~ it was time to go off piste
The best thing about our adventure …Grandpa had a nice hot lunch & mug of hot chocolate waiting for us when we eventually arrive back at the cottage AND total steps count 11585
Moo AKA Gelfling Grandson & I have spent a magical couple of days together, as you may be aware one of his all time bestest thing (his words not mine :-)) is to be outside and if that includes a long walk all the better, soooo after a leisurely breakfast that’s exactly what we did, where the sun had cast shadows a little frost lingered
If that wasn’t enough magic we found something fantastical
And on the way home Moo’s eye caught sight of something bright red
Way back when the world was young …OK June to be more specific (OMGoodness was it really that long ago !! ) I began a ‘Sweet Nothings’ blanket, in my defence all I can say is ..
Anyhoo this left me ZERO time to myself to craft, blog or engage in anything other than~ bake, go for mammoth walks, have impromptu trips to see the ducks, boat trips, the occasional lunch out ..(where Moo behaved himself impeccably) days out and numerous other child orientated activities …Enough of my delightful reasons for my absence from Blogland back to the matter in hand ..my blanket !! IT’S FINISHED !!
Of course me being me when I came to put my blanket through a full photo shoot the batteries died in the camera so you will just have to be content with just one more shot
For my next trick ….I’d just cast on a project for myself when I received a commission ~ which I don’t have the yarn for which means a shopping trip ..YPIEE oh dear never mind.
